It’s no secret that the American media has largely been co-opted by Democrats as self-proclaimed “journalists’” have regurgitated Democrats’ talking points for decades.
But it goes much deeper than that.
And now this so-called “fact-checker” was just caught red-handed colluding with the Biden regime on this massive coverup.
Fact-checking the fact-checkers
Snopes started back in 1994 as a site dedicated to investigating urban legends, internet hoaxes, and folklore.
Somehow, this blatantly biased misinformation website has become Democrats and their media allies’ most “trusted” so-called “fact-checkers” on the web.
In fact, Snopes describes itself as “the definitive Internet reference source for researching urban legends, folklore, myths, rumors, and misinformation.”
The Washington state-based company has been referenced by Democrats’ media allies at outlets like CNN, MSNBC, Fortune, Forbes, and The New York Times.
Facebook even originally included Snopes as part of its “misinformation” partnership.
However, Snopes’ claim of being a “fact-checker” has been largely debunked.
Facebook ended its partnership with Snopes in 2019.
In 2021, the company’s founder, David Mikkelson, had to retract several dozen “fact-check” articles, and admitted to copyright violations resulting in his suspension from editorial responsibilities.
The following year, he was forced to step down as CEO and sold off part of his ownership stake in the company, though he remains an officer and stakeholder.
But still, millions of Americans have been convinced that Snopes is a “fact-checker” that can be trusted.
And that’s exactly what President Joe Biden and his regime want the public to believe.
Snopes covers up for Biden regime
In the name of supposedly “going green,” Democrats targeted gas-powered stoves in homes and businesses.
After seeing the public’s negative reaction to its war on gas stoves, the Biden regime and their fellow Democrats tried to distance themselves from the policy proposal, and pretend as though it never even happened.
And that included making sure Snopes had a Democrat-approved “fact-check” waiting to spread that exact propaganda message.
The Daily Fetched obtained an email showing that the Biden regime pressured Snopes into changing a so-called “fact-check” about their efforts to ban gas stoves.
And according to the report, Snopes happily complied with Democrats’ wishes.
The email exchange was between White House assistant Press Secretary Michael Kikukawa and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) communications director Pamela Rucker Springs.
In the email, Kikukawa bragged about having Snopes wrapped around his finger.
“Sent over tough letter to this writer yesterday when the initial claim was rated as ‘mixed,’” Kikukawa wrote to Rucker Springs.
The “mixed” rating was in regards to a report that highlighted President Biden’s support for banning gas stoves.
The email also included a link to an updated version of the “fact-check” that pushed the Biden regime’s propaganda message exactly as the regime demanded.
The White House assistant Press Secretary described the Snopes new rating of “false” as, “so helpful.”
Snopes’ “false” rating ignored comments by CPSC member Richard Trumka Jr., who has said on the record that a gas stove ban was “on the table” for the Biden regime.
The Daily Fetched report was based on an investigation by the Functional Government Initiative (FGI), which unearthed the email exchange.
“A commissioner appointed by President Biden wanted to ban gas stoves, and he got caught, provoking a public outcry,” commented FGI spokesman Peter McGinnis. “So, the CPSC staff leaned on Snopes, seeking to counter the narrative… And the White House finds this ‘helpful.’ Helpful with what? This goes beyond dysfunction — the government using sympathetic media to censor inconvenient news.”
Democrats ARE actively banning non-electric stoves
Snopes’ claim that it’s “false” to suggest Democrats’ want to ban gas stoves hasn’t exactly aged well, as Democrats nationwide have been openly doing just that.
Along with Trumka Jr.’s comments, just last month, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Socialist-NY) proposed the “The Green New Deal for Public Housing Act,” which – in addition to other extreme measures – would, in fact, ban gas stoves if passed into law.
Meanwhile, in the very district AOC represents and one lived before becoming a career politician, New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams and his NYC Department of Environmental Protection has implemented a new rule forcing eateries that utilize wood-fired or coal-fired ovens – also known as every legendary, decades-old, immigrant-founded, mom-and-pop pizza shop in a city known for its pizza – to slice carbon emissions by up to 75%.
And just like that, another Snopes “fact-check” has been debunked.
