The Biden regime has gone all-in on environmental extremism.

They’re desperate to force working class Americans into electric vehicles by any means necessary.

And Elon Musk whipped environmental extremists into a frenzy by making this one change at Tesla.

Musk makes a major move at Tesla

Over the last several decades, environmental extremism has become a primary pillar of Democrats’ deranged ideology, resulting in trillions of taxpayer dollars being poured into their left-wing special interests in the name of fighting climate change.

Subsidizing electric vehicles and passing legislation to outlaw internal combustion engines represents a massive part of this environmental extremist strategy, with some Democrat-controlled states going as far as to phase out gas-powered vehicles altogether.

However, Americans have not transitioned to electric vehicles as quickly as many Democrats hoped, often citing the relatively high cost of electric vehicles and the fact that EV technology has not yet been fully developed to the point in which it can completely replace gas-powered vehicles.

Major electric vehicle manufacturers have in turn slimmed down operations with Tesla announcing widespread layoffs on Sunday.

In an email to employees, Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk explained that the company’s rapid growth in recent years has resulted in the “duplication of roles and job functions,” necessitating a contraction of the workforce by more than 10% globally.

“Over the years, we have grown rapidly with multiple factories scaling around the globe,” Musk wrote. “With this rapid growth there has been duplication of roles and job functions in certain areas. As we prepare the company for our next phase of growth, it is extremely important to look at every aspect of the company for cost reductions and increasing productivity.”

“As part of this effort, we have done a thorough review of the organization and made the difficult decision to reduce our headcount by more than 10% globally,” he added. “There is nothing I hate more, but it must be done. This will enable us to be lean, innovative and hungry for the next growth phase cycle.”

“The difficult job that remains ahead…”

Musk thanked the departing employees for their contributions to Tesla, and wished them well in their future endeavors.

“I would like to thank everyone who is departing Tesla for their hard work over the years,” Musk said. “I’m deeply grateful for your many contributions to our mission and we wish you well in your future opportunities. It is very difficult to say goodbye.”

In closing, the Tesla co-founder and CEO preemptively thanked the company’s remaining employees for the work they’re going to put in on “the difficult job that remains ahead.

“We are developing some of the most revolutionary technologies in auto, energy and artificial intelligence,” Musk declared. “As we prepare the company for the next phase of growth, your resolve will make a huge difference in getting us there. Thanks, Elon.”

Tesla lays off ‘more than 10%’ of its global workforce

Of course, like every other auto manufacturer around the globe, Tesla is largely having to make these adjustments to its workforce because the rate at which working class Americans are choosing to buy electric vehicles is not where the Biden regime and other ruling class elites hoped.

That’s why they continue to push for legislation in states like California and New York to ban the production of gas-powered vehicles within the next decade.

But as Musk himself has repeatedly stressed while urging Democrats to reconsider their environmental extremist agenda, “civilization will crumble” if they attempt to force the entire nation – much less the world – to make such an immediate transition away from gas-powered vehicles and fossil fuels.

When even the guy who leads the most advanced and successful EV company in the world – and stands to benefit more from the transition to EVs than almost any other human – is urging environmental extremist Democrats to pump the brakes on forcing Americans into Evs, it’s probably wise to listen to him.

And Elon Musk’s restructuring of Tesla’s workforce is just further proof that Democrats’ obsession with environmental extremism has blinded them to reality.
