In a viral TikTok video, Venezuelan illegal alien Leonal Moreno implored his over 300,000 followers to “unite,” and cover the fines of Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa, the teen charged with shooting a tourist in New York City’s Times Square.

“Let’s unite forces so that this child can be free and has an opportunity,” Moreno passionately pleads.

But as the video spreads like wildfire, the response is anything but unified. 

One viewer lambasts Moreno as a “clown,” while another demands justice, stating, “He broke the law, and he should stay in jail or go back to his country.”

Critics argue that Moreno’s advocacy for the accused teen is symptomatic of a larger issue: exploitation of American generosity. 

Daniel Di Martino, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a Venezuelan native, expressed outrage to the New York Post, saying, “Americans should be outraged to see how someone can come… and abuse the laws and benefits of America.”

But Moreno’s controversial remarks extend beyond the Times Square shooting. 

In a separate video, he brazenly admits to avoiding work and living off government assistance, boasting, “You work, I don’t, but in the end, neither of us have money.”

While Moreno may view his actions as harmless, they underscore broader concerns about immigration and the Biden administration’s handling of the crisis. 

With President Biden acknowledging the broken state of immigration laws, conservatives are left questioning whether sufficient action will be taken to address the ongoing turmoil.

As the debate rages on, one thing remains clear: Moreno’s actions sparked a fierce backlash, highlighting the deep divisions surrounding immigration policy and the responsibilities of those seeking refuge in America.
