The Daily Wire’s rise in alternative media has given conservatives hope in a dark media environment.

But now the media outlet is being targeted after the departure of one popular podcaster.

And the battle between Ben Shapiro and Candace Owens just went nuclear after The Daily Wire made one mind-blowing announcement.

Daily Wire CEO sends shockwaves across social media

Last week, social media erupted in debate when Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing made an announcement regarding one of its most controversial podcasters.

“Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their relationship,” Boreing wrote Friday morning.

Social media users immediately questioned the move with many people asserting that it goes against prior statements that champion free speech online.

In November of last year, the CEO said that even if he could fire Owens, he wouldn’t because of his “desire not to regulate the speech of our hosts.”

The X account Sovereign Brah shared a screenshot of the post, and wrote, “Five months ago, you said you didn’t want to regulate her speech, and she wouldn’t be fired unless she broke the law or violated the terms of her contract. What changed?”

“You cannot serve both God and money. . .”

The November comments came amid escalating rhetoric between Owens and the Daily Wire’s co-founder, editor emeritus, and most popular personality, Ben Shapiro.

The catalyst for the infighting was the deadly terrorist attack Hamas perpetrated against Israel in October – which left some 1,200 innocent Israelis dead as well as countless others missing, injured, raped, and kidnapped – and America’s lone Middle East ally’s efforts to defend itself.

After Owens seemingly took the woke extremist position of supporting the Palestinian terrorists over Israel, Shapiro went after Owens in a video that went viral in mid-November in which he said that “her faux sophistication on these particular issues has been ridiculous.”

Owens responded to the viral video by quoting Matthew 5: 9-12, writing “blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”

Owens then tossed the Bible aside to slam Shapiro, saying that “you cannot serve both God and money,” which invoked a well-known anti-Semitic trope.

Shapiro hit back saying if Owens felt that she couldn’t take money from the Daily Wire, “by all means quit.”

The social media battle has continued with each of them calling the other “unhinged,” “unprofessional,” and “emotional.”

Now, Owens is out at the Daily Wire, and it didn’t take long for her to issue a response.

“I chose freedom over fear”

Owens quickly took to social media to respond to Boreing’s statement about her being exited from the outlet.

“The rumors are true — I am finally free,” she wrote on X.

The podcaster then chose to begin a fundraising campaign for working class Americans to support her while she decides what she does next.

A fundraising email sent out by Owens suggested that she might begin producing her own content as an independent journalist.

“Today, I have taken a significant step forward in my journey to fight for truth and freedom. I am independent and ready to take my fight for truth directly to Americans like YOU,” the email read.

Owens cited her “decision to speak freely” as the reason for departure and attacks by groups like the Anti-Defamation League.

But the podcaster added that she won’t be “surrendering” her principles.

“I chose freedom over fear,” she said.
