Twitter community fact-checks the White House leading to this unbelievable action by Biden’s communications team

Twitter made a lot of Americans angry in recent years by only fact-checking conservatives on their platform.

Recently, Twitter rolled out a new community based program that allows certain Twitter users to “add context” to posts.

Now the community has used this feature to push back on a tweet by the White House and it led to this extraordinary action.

White House gets fact-checked after they take credit for decades-old law on Social Security

The White House was recently pushed into deleting a false claim from their Twitter page.

The tweet claimed responsibility for a law that has been on the books for fifty years.

The official White House Twitter account shared the following in a tweet, “Seniors are getting the biggest increase in their Social Security checks in 10 years through President Biden’s leadership.”

This sparked immediate backlash on Twitter, which remarkably seemed to be led by a CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale.

He called it “quite the spit” and explained “the size of Social Security checks is linked, by law, to inflation. This year’s increase is unusually big because the inflation rate is unusually big.”

The Twitter community then proceeded to add context, writing that President Nixon “signed into law automatic benefit adjustments tied to the Consumer Price Index” in 1972.

The Biden team “disappeared” the tweet that brought more light to aggressive inflation

The White House then decided that their best course of action was to delete the tweet.

It could have been because they didn’t like the idea of being censored on social media.

It also could have been everyone pointing out that through Biden’s leadership we’ve seen record-breaking inflation.

In May of 2021 inflation jumped above 5% and has been rising steadily ever since.

Prior to that, inflation hadn’t exceeded 3% since before Trump took office in 2017.

President of conservative activist group Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton pointed out Biden’s revisionist PR team.

He tweeted “Biden operation celebrated in a tweet Social Security COLA caused by massive inflation. The tweet has now been disappeared.”

Republican Representative Thomas Massie commented saying “Biden social media geniuses are giving Biden credit for the biggest Social Security COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) in 10 years, but neglect to mention that SS COLA is an automatic formula based on government inflation metric (CPI).”

Senior Citizens League says high inflation COLAS are a “no-win situation”

The increase in Social Security benefits doesn’t actually mean anyone is getting more money.

The head of the Social Security Administration, Kilolo Kijakazi says that though they are getting an increase in their benefits, the “COLA increase might force some seniors to pay more in taxes – in addition to surging inflation.”

Analyst Mary Jonson with the Senior Citizens League wasn’t optimistic about the position seniors are in. “Will the COLA be enough to keep up with inflation? It’s too early to say . . .”

She knows inflation is crushing consumers and “there can be some very long-term effects to high inflation COLAs.”

Jonson called it a “no-win situation,” which seems to be exactly where America is at facing two more years of Biden’s failed “leadership.”
