There are two types of people: those who look at the glass as half-full and those who see it as half-empty.
When most people face a life-or-death situation it’s typically difficult to find a silver lining.
But this Texas woman may be the luckiest living human after this unfortunate incident involving a snake and a hawk.
Snakes are falling “out of the sky”
A Texas woman living in a small town outside of Houston is counting her blessings after an extraordinary situation that would leave most people thinking their day couldn’t possibly get any worse.
Peggy Jones said that the event left her feeling like “the luckiest person alive…”
In an interview with Texas news station KPRC, Jones described an encounter with two predators that could have cost her life.
She was mowing the lawn when “just out of the sky,” a snake fell onto her and quickly wrapped itself around her arm as tight as it could.
According to her statement, “the snake was squeezing so hard” and attempting to strike at her eyes while she “was waving [her] arms in the air.”
She said her glasses protected her from the snake’s fangs, and she was calling out, “Help me, Jesus, Help me, Jesus!”
That’s when a hawk decided to drop in to save her from the snake — or to just pick up its lunch.
Doctors thought she was “on drugs”
Despite her efforts to shake off the snake, she says, “he just kept on and kept on,” and she couldn’t get rid of him.
“And then, this hawk was swooping down clawing at my arm over and over,” Jones recalled.
It immediately became clear that the hawk was trying to grab the snake off her arm.
The hawk must have been carrying the snake through the air when it managed to free itself from the bird’s talons and dropped down onto Jones.
“[After] about the fourth time, the hawk got the snake and carried it away, and I looked down and I was covered in blood,” Jones said.
Her husband, Wendell, responded to her screams and came running to help.
He discovered his wife in hysterics and covered in blood.
They rushed to the hospital, fearing that she had been bitten by the snake.
The doctors couldn’t believe what had happened, and at first, thought she was “on drugs.”
Jones was eventually discharged from the hospital and went on to tell her story.
Jones says God sent the hawk
While many would have considered this situation extremely unfortunate, Jones took the perspective that she couldn’t be luckier.
She credited God with protecting her, and said she must be “the luckiest person alive to have survived this!”
She said that she believed her calls out to Jesus were answered when the hawk came swooping down to save her from the snake.
“I think it was God’s way of letting me live, because I couldn’t figure out a way — the snake was not letting go of my arm,” Jones concluded.
