These two Senators just put Homeland Security’s Mayorkas on notice

The U.S. border is no longer protected from the stream of illegal aliens that pour across it every single day.

Crime, drug use and distribution, and a strain on the system are just some of the side effects that the American people are experiencing.

Now two GOP Senators have finally put the Department of Homeland Security on notice, sending a scathing letter to Alejandro Mayorkas.

Grounds for impeachment

Senators Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz sent a warning to the head of DHS, Alejandro Mayorkas, informing him that they have “grounds for impeachment.”

According to the letter, if Mayorkas doesn’t do something soon to fix his “gross dereliction of duty” at the southern border, then he’ll need to pay the price.

It doesn’t take an official letter from U.S. Senators to know just how badly the current administration has failed in terms of border protection.

According to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the situation at our southern border has gone downhill ever since Mayorkas took office.

There have been well over 4 million illegal border crossings, over 3.5 million CBP apprehensions, and more than 900,000 people who have gotten away unscathed.

In the letter to Mayorkas, Graham and Cruz stated that he has displayed “willful blindness” to the situation.

Not only have illegal border crossings skyrocketed, but the fentanyl crisis in the United States has ramped up, too.

108,000 Americans died last year due to opioid use, largely in part due to the drugs smuggled into the country by Mexican cartels.

Just last month alone, CBP agents seized enough fentanyl to kill over 500 million people.

All of this is happening while the administration looks the other way, hoping to gain favor from their ultra-liberal base.

Unfortunately, political correctness won’t save people from dying, and it won’t save American citizens from becoming victims of increased crime thanks to the influx of illegals entering the country.

Chaos at the southern border

Graham and Cruz mentioned that there’s “chaos” at our nation’s southern border, which also leads to the chance of more terrorists entering the United States.

After the nightmarish withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan last year, border patrol agents have caught “at least 78 individuals on the Terrorist Screening Database” this year so far.

That number is over twice as many as those apprehended in the previous five years combined.

Per the letter, these terrorists have come into our country “undetected, taking advantage of the lenient border policies you have put into place.”

All of this comes after both Graham and Cruz have asked Mayorkas and the White House repeatedly to do something about the influx of illegals coming in at the border.

Both Senators have visited the border a total of six times in the past two years, while Biden and Kamala Harris haven’t been there yet since they took office.

The hypocrisy surrounding the border crisis is astounding, and it’s something that voters should take note of.

While Biden, Harris, and the rest of the Democrat Party turn their backs on the problem, Americans continue to deal with the harmful repercussions.

They can continue to deny there’s a crisis if they want to, but hopefully, it will come back to haunt them during the upcoming Midterm elections.
