The Olympics’ woke extremist Opening Ceremony rightly angered billions of Christians and others of decency.
But through it all the Catholic Church has remained tight-lipped.
And now the Vatican finally broke its silence on the Olympics’ blasphemous Opening Ceremony with this infuriating claim.
Last Supper Reenactment Goes Horribly Wrong
There will never be an Olympic Games without controversy.
But usually, the controversies are with the judges and allegations of cheating, not with the opening ceremonies.
The Paris games have been an exception, though.
According to reports, the woke extremist creator of the opening ceremonies, Thomas Jolly, was drawing inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
But by doing it with drag queens, other men pretending to be women, and children, he set off a serious backlash from Christians all over the globe.
Many celebrities were outraged, including Mel Gibson and politicians like Italy’s Prime Minister, have expressed their opinions.
Noticeably absent from the discussion was any comment from the Vatican.
Now, the Pope has finally weighed in – and it’s only a week after the event.
“The Holy See was saddened by certain scenes at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games and cannot but join the voices raised in recent days to deplore the offense done to many Christians and believers of other religions,” the Pope claimed, per The New York Post.
He went on to say it “lacked respect for others.”
Too little too late for many. Â
Controversy Continued
The International Olympic Committee tried to claim the montage had nothing to do with The Last Supper after the controversy erupted, but later conceded it really was inspired by the famous painting.
The woke extremist actors were furious that anyone would be upset.
In The New York Post, the actor portraying Christ was quoted: “DJ Barbara Butch — the activist performer at the center of the controversy — is even filing complaints over relentless abuse she’s allegedly received online following her widely publicized appearance at the ceremony, her lawyer saying she’s endured “anti-Semitic, homophobic, sexist and grossophobic insults.”
Apparently, making fat jokes against a transgender actor who is openly mocking Jesus in front of billions of Christians is going too far.
Is the Response too Little too Late?
Several Catholic magazines have criticized the Vatican statement for being too muted and a week late.
By the time the Pope made his lukewarm opposition known, the President of Turkey and Iran’s Supreme Leader had already called on the Pope to speak out on the assault on Christianity.
This caused some to wonder if the Pope was more concerned about the opinion of Muslim leaders than he was with the Catholic faithful.
Catholic groups and Bishops went much further than the Pope calling for renunciation of the event and apology. In La Croix International they were quoted in their letter to the IOC as saying:Â
“With shock, the world watched as the Summer Olympics in Paris opened with a grotesque and blasphemous depiction of the Last Supper.” The letter also urged the International Olympic Committee to “repudiate” and “apologize” for an “intentionally hateful mockery.”Â
