Americans are finding out the hard way that it costs a lot of green to go green.
But that’s not going to stop Democrats from continuing to push their radical environmental agenda.
And the Biden regime’s latest attack is coming in the form of another regulatory ban.
No, it’s not Dr. Seuss books.
No, it’s not your gas oven this time.
Democrats’ latest move is to prohibit retailers from selling incandescent light bulbs.
This is simply another nationwide ban brought to you by President Joe Biden’s radical environmental agenda.
Federal regulators have a history of making life more expensive for working class Americans.
And these latest expenses have only sped up with the Biden regime.
These new bans will include incandescent and halogen light bulbs, making LED light bulbs, and LED alternatives, the forced gold standard.
But it is no surprise that Democrats’ latest bans will assist in driving up the cost of living for working class Americans.
The most recent results from the Residential Energy Consumption Survey say about the same.
“According to the survey data, LEDs are also far more popular in higher-income households, meaning the energy regulations will particularly impact lower-income Americans,” the survey said. “While 54% of households with an income of more than $100,000 per year used LEDs, just 39% of households with an income of $20,000 or less used LEDs.”
Of course, most consumer groups are in line with the free market approach.
LED light bulbs have been in the marketplace for years.
If people want to switch, they’ll switch.
We have seen the evolution of technology without forced government intervention.
But like most green energy government interference, this is going to be more expensive for American consumers.
This is a prime example showing how out of touch the current regime is with the average American family.
Biden’s economic agenda continues to ignore working class Americans struggling to “keep the lights on.”
Whether Americans support this nonsense or not, the Biden Department of Energy will start enforcing the ban on light bulbs in August.
And for those keeping score at home, LED bulbs are typically around three times more expensive than incandescent bulbs.
The Biden regime touts this as a “win” for American consumers, claiming the nation will collectively save $3 billion on utility bills annually, or around $21 per customer a year.
With that kind of savings, one can afford a few more LED light bulbs over the soon-to-be black market for illegal bulbs.
Time will tell if the savings are truly passed down.
After all, President Biden has long professed his opposition to trickle-down economics.
But it seems the Biden regime will do anything to advance its agenda, even if its at the expense of working class Americans.
