Taylor Swift’s army of Swifties are undeniably one of the most loyal, devoted, and downright obsessed fan bases any celebrity has ever obtained.

These incredibly rabid fans will go to great lengths to praise and protect the pop star.

And now Swifties are rejoicing after one of Taylor Swift’s biggest enemies finally waved the white flag.

Swift’s ultimate nemesis throws in the towel

Entertainment manager Scooter Braun just announced his decision to retire from his position, and Taylor Swift fans couldn’t be happier.

Braun became one of the most well-known and successful music managers in history, representing clients like Kayne West, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Zac Brown Band, Black Eyed Peas, Dan+Shay, and many more.

But what Braun is most known for is being possibly Taylor Swift’s biggest enemy of all-time.

That’s because it was Braun whose company purchased the record label Swift was then signed with, Big Machine Records, in 2019, giving him ownership of her album masters.

Swift claimed that she was never told that the sale was happening, and was therefore never given a chance to buy her masters herself rather than them being owned by Braun.

From there, reports have indicated that the pop star attempted to buy her masters from Braun, but he was obviously looking for a big pay day, leading Swift to make him public enemy no. 1.

At the time, Swift called the incident the “worst-case scenario” and was devastated about the fact that she wasn’t able to own her music.

She wrote at the time that “all I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at [Braun’s] hands for years. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”

The sale sparked outrage for Swifties all around the world.

But Swift didn’t become the biggest pop star in the world without having a few tricks up her sleeve.

As such, she has spent the last few years re-recording and releasing all of the music from her first six albums, dubbing them each “Taylor’s version,” in order to give herself total ownership over the new versions while making the masters owned by Braun far less valuable as Swifties now refuse to have anything to do with the original songs.

And her plan worked, as Braun quickly unloaded Swift’s masters after she began releasing her versions.

Now, the oft-loathed music manager posted a long message on Instagram on June 17 to announce his retirement.

He said the decision was made after one of his “biggest clients” chose to go in a “new direction.”

In August 2023, the aforementioned Bieber parted ways with Braun, and said he hadn’t spoken to him “in months,” according to Puck.

Just a few days later, reports came out announcing that Braun was no longer representing more big-name clients like Grande, Demi Lovato, and others.

In his Instagram post, Braun wrote, “We had been through so much together over the last decade, but instead of being hurt, I saw it as a sign. You see, life doesn’t hand you YOUR plan, it hands you GOD’s plan. And God had been pushing me in this direction for some time.”

Fans celebrate the announcement

After Braun made his Instagram post, several of his fans commented showing their support.

However, the Swifties also chimed in, and they had a much different response.

“SWIFTIES WE WON!!!!!” said one fan, while others quoted excerpts from some of her songs, including The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and Karma, which Swift wrote with Braun in mind.

“Spider boy, king of thieves officially retires from artist management,” wrote TikTok user Ginnie, adding, “Alexa, Google, whatever your device is, play ‘Karma.’”

Braun also claimed that his family was another reason for his decision, saying that as his kids got older and his “personal life took some hits,” he realized that his kids were “three superstars [he] wasn’t willing to lose.”

He also noted that he could no longer justify “the sacrifices [he] was once willing to make.”

But Taylor Swift fans were suspicious of the statement, with one writing, “Yeah no he doesn’t want [to] spend time with his kids, Taylor ruined his career. As she should.”
