Dr. Anthony Fauci is trying to evade any accountability for his corruption and failures during the COVID pandemic.
He helped Big Pharma corrupt and weaponize the American “public health” system against working class Americans.
And now Rand Paul is trying to stop this terrible scheme by Anthony Fauci dead in its tracks.
Rand Paul introduces bill to stop risky government-funded research
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is trying to stop the next pandemic from happening.
The federal government is still using taxpayer dollars to fund risky gain-of-function research, which is the process of intentionally manipulating a virus in a lab to make it far more contagious and deadly to humans in order to supposedly figure out how to keep it under control.
Obviously, when it comes to COVID, Fauci and his Big Pharma allies succeeded in making a virus that was extremely contagious and dangerous for humans, but failed in actually learning how to keep it under control.
Dr. Fauci funneled taxpayer money from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which he led for decades, to the nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance which used the money to fund risky gain of function research at the notorious Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
Fauci’s scientist privately confessed the virus was most likely manipulated in a lab.
That’s why Senator Paul wants to provide oversight for such risky, taxpayer-funded research.
He introduced the Risky Research Review Act, which would create an independent review board to keep tabs on taxpayer-funded, “high-risk life sciences research.”
The proposed Life Sciences Research Security Board would have the ability to conduct “oversight over life sciences research funding across the federal government to protect public health, safety, and national security.”
The wild wild west of risky research
Paul has worked to uncover Fauci’s massive deception about the virus’ origins during COVID.
Former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Robert Redfield testified that the bill could have potentially stopped the pandemic from ever happening.
“If we had this bill in place ten years ago, we could have prevented the COVID pandemic,” Redfield said.
He rightly called for a halt on all gain-of-function research.
Rutgers University professor Richard Ebright warned about the lack of safety precautions in virus research.
“The US has no – zero – regulations with force of law for biosafety or biorisk management of research with any pathogen other than smallpox virus, apart from a requirement to have a biosafety plan, the content of which is left to the discretion of the institution,” Ebright wrote.
Risky research on viruses is in the wild, wild west, and relies on the judgment of people like Dr. Fauci.
Senator Paul warned that nothing has been done since the pandemic to get this under control.
“So what has been done since the discovery that our government is funding dangerous virus research overseas with little or no oversight? The answer is stark and chilling: virtually nothing,” Paul remarked.
“In this dystopian universe we find ourselves in, it is our duty to challenge the status quo — to shine a light on the darkest corners of government operations, and to protect the freedoms and lives of the people we serve,” Paul added.
The public health bureaucracy has proven that it can’t be trusted.
Putting safeguards on gain-of-function research could stop a catastrophe in the future.
