Republicans have an uphill battle against the Democrats and the corporate-controlled press.
But it also doesn’t help when they have to battle squishes in their own caucus.
And now Nancy Mace tried to give the Democrats a win and stop one life-saving bill.
The Republican-controlled House just passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, with all but two Democrats voting against it.
The bill also got wobbly support from South Carolina Republican Nancy Mace, who did her best to undermine the piece of legislation ahead of its passage.
The bill simply states, “An infant born alive after an abortion or within a hospital, clinic, or other facility has the same claim to the protection of the law that would arise for any newborn, or for any person who comes to a hospital, clinic, or other facility for screening and treatment or otherwise becomes a patient within its care.”
Essentially, the bill stops infanticide, which would seem to be something Congress could agree upon.
But the Democrats have become so ghoulish on the issue of abortion, they don’t even want infanticide off the table.
Former Virginia Governor Ralph Northam claimed that babies born from botched abortions would be made “comfortable,” then the doctor and the mother would decide together if the baby is allowed to live.
This is the current position of the Democrat Party.
Sadly, Mace only offered tepid support for the Born Alive Act, perhaps knowing that voting against it would cost her her Congressional seat in the next primary.
Mace has argued that on the issue of abortion, Republicans must “find some middle ground on the issue.”
She added, “I have been very vocal, both privately with my leadership, and also publicly . . . This is an issue that we lost on. We buried our heads in the sand after Roe v. Wade, and we lost seats because of this issue.”
Democrats have made it quite clear that there is zero middle ground on abortion.
They believe that abortion is “healthcare” and should be accessible up to the point of birth for any reason.
Democrats even tried to argue that the Born Alive bill will cost babies their lives.
The tortured logic of their argument follows that if babies are required to be saved after an abortion, they could die on the way to the hospital instead of being treated at an abortion clinic.
So according to the Left, allowing babies to die from botched abortions will save lives.
These are the irrational people that Mace wants to find “middle ground” with.
