Everyone knows about the long-standing feud between Fox News and CNN.
So it was surprising to some when former Fox News host Chris Wallace left the network for rival CNN.
But now Megyn Kelly just ripped her former Fox News colleague Chris Wallace and CNN by exposing one truth.
Who is the moron who thought we needed more CNN?
Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly recently appeared on a podcast with conservative commentator Buck Sexton, who was previously a CNN contributor when he was more desperate for cash.
Sexton started things off by asking “who is the moron at CNN” who thought that a network with such low ratings needed to build a subscription service to give the people not watching their programming more programming to not watch.
“Who is the moron at CNN who actually thought, ‘you know what we need with our ratings in the toilet?’” Sexton said. “More of us. We need more CNN. I do love all of the jokes about how while Elon [Musk] is offering to buy Twitter for tens of billions, there are lots of people out there right now who are willing to buy CNN+ for tens of dollars.”
That’s when the topic of CNN+ hiring former Fox News host Chris Wallace was mentioned, and Kelly tore into him.
“He was in last place every week, every year, every month,” Kelly explained. “He was always in last, and they still paid him.”
She then recalled that during her time at Fox News, then-CNN president Jeff Zucker also tried to hire her away from the network.
“I considered going to CNN,” Kelly admitted. “CNN made me a huge offer. Huge. I said no, Buck, because I knew – who is my fanbase going to be over there? I knew who my fans were, and I knew that my Fox viewers were not going to follow me to CNN and that the CNN viewers were going to hate my guts.”
Kelly then explained that she believes Wallace is “suffering from that very problem right now.”
Making lemonade out of lemons
Those comments from Kelly about Wallace and CNN follow her comments earlier in the month about troubled CNN host Don Lemon.
She previously bashed Lemon following reports back in December that he melted down on set of his morning show, and yelled at co-host Kaitlin Collins for allegedly “interrupting” him during the program.
While covering the reports on her very popular SiriusXM podcast, Kelly said that she was never treated that way at Fox News, and if anyone did, she would “make sure that person was fired.”
She went on to play some clips of Collins interrupting Lemon during a recent program, which allegedly led to Lemon’s post-show outburst.
“Oh, okay,” Kelly said. “So there was some interrupting. It happens when you co-host a show, it happens.”
“What you don’t do is scream at them after the fact,” the former Fox News host explained. “Later you say, ‘oh, we stepped on each other.’ It’s all about servicing the audience if you’re a professional.”
“If you’re a douchebag, you scream at the woman next to you and blame it on her,” Kelly concluded.
