When running for office nowadays, any Republican should know the corporate-controlled media will try to catch them with the press’ favorite game, “gotcha.”
But what happens when these “journalists” run into a GOP candidate who was once one of them?
They found out when the MAGA momma bear smacked down yet another reporter for asking her a “gotcha” question.
The reporter who turned Republican
Despite an early endorsement from Donald Trump, Kari Lake was the underdog in the GOP primary for Arizona Governor.
She had to take on the entire establishment-wing of the Republican Party, threats from the radical Left and her former colleagues in the corporate-controlled media.
However, the journalist-turned MAGA candidate overcame the odds and defeated the Mike Pence-candidate, Karrin Taylor Robson by about 3-points – and won every county in the Grand Canyon State in the process.
Now, as Lake turns her attention to the general election in November, the corporate-controlled media is coming after her harder than ever.
Lake has had her share of run-ins with the left-wing press before.
Fake News Media can’t wrangle the momma bear
And there may be no Republican candidate better than her at handling the fake news outlets – she might be even better at it than Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.
She once triggered an entire news station by bringing her own cameras to an in-studio interview.
Another time, she accepted an interview request from a newspaper looking to release a hit piece on the former news anchor – however, she did so well, the paper ended up deciding not to bother writing a story at all.
Then, of course, there is her relationship with CNN.
The so-called “most trusted name in news” has a history of biased reporting against Lake.
So, when one CNN reporter tried to snare the MAGA momma bear with an ambush interview, Lake had the perfect response.
“Hi, you don’t have a mask on anymore,” Lake quipped. “I’ll do an interview, as long as it airs on CNN+. Does that still exist? I didn’t think so. Because the people don’t like what you guys are peddling, which is propaganda. Thank you.”
The comment came just days after CNN announced they were pulling the plug on their short-lived subscription streaming service.
But Lake may have just had her best mic-drop moment yet.
Lake’s latest mic-drop moment
She held a media scrum, where she was hoping to discuss her Democrat opponent, Arizona Secretary of State, Katie Hobbs declining to do a single debate this election cycle.

However, one reporter thought he’d get Lake with a question about a potential Trump-Lake 2024 ticket.
“First of all, I don’t like Washington D.C., I especially don’t like it now,” Lake began. “It’s funny thought that question is asked. Because for so long, many of you in the media have been trying to act like I don’t have the skills to run for governor. Now, apparently, I’m so skilled you think I should run for VP.”
Like a true professional, Lake swatted down the gnat and then went right back to business.
“I’m applying for the job of Arizona Governor,” Lake said. “I’m reaching out to the people every day. Where is Kattie Hobbs, by the way? She should be standing right here, right here answering your questions. How often does she talk to you? If you’re MSNBC, maybe all the time. But if you want to ask her pressing questions, she cowers and she is a coward. I’m applying for a job. The people of Arizona are the hiring manager and they are my boss. And I’m going to be here – much to the chagrin of some of you, not just four-years as your Governor, I’m going to be here eight-years as your Governor.”
Microphone officially dropped.
