Kevin McCarthy just promised to do one thing as Speaker that sent Ilhan Omar into hysterics

There weren’t many positives for Republicans to take from the Midterms.

But the fact that Nancy Pelosi will have to give up the Speaker’s gavel is certainly one.

And Kevin McCarthy just promised to do one thing as Speaker that sent Ilhan Omar into hysterics.

It’s no fun when the rabbit has the gun

Over the past six years, the Democrat Party has divulged into an outright authoritarian party hell-bent on subjugating everyone who dares to speak out against their regime.

Since taking control of the entire federal government, they’ve colluded with Big Tech to silence dissenting opinions, targeted concerned parents who speak out at local school board meetings as “domestic terrorists,” declared the 74 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump enemies of the state, arrested pro-life activists for existing, attempted to enact an Orwellian “Ministry of Truth,” and attempted to have numerous Republican politicians investigated and arrested, amongst many other third world, banana republic-style tactics.

On top of that, with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in control of the House, they unilaterally stripped duly elected Congresswoman Marjorie Greene Taylor (R-GA) of her committee assignments because they deemed past comments she made “offensive.”

But now the shoe is on the other foot, and it’s no fun when the rabbit has the gun.

With Republicans set to take control of the House, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is working overtime to pull the votes together to become the next Speaker of the House.

Considering the fact that some 31 House Republicans voted against re-electing him as the caucus’ leader, he has some work to do on that front, and he’s apparently pulling out all the stops to make it happen.

In fact, while speaking at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting, Rep. McCarthy went so far as to promise that if he’s elected Speaker, he will follow in Pelosi’s footsteps by removing Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affiars Committee for her past anti-Semitic remarks.

“We watch anti-Semitism grow, not just on our campuses, but we watched it grow in the halls of Congress,” McCarthy told the audience. “I promised you last year that as Speaker [Rep. Omar] will no longer be on Foreign Affairs, and I’m keeping that promise.”

Since being elected to Congress, Rep. Omar has been criticized for several antisemitic tropes, “including saying it was ‘all about the Benjamins’ for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and tweeting, ‘We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,’ which was seen as equating Israel and the U.S. to the Taliban,” according to Fox News.

Omar also made numerous anti-Semitic comments prior to joining Congress, as well, like when she claimed Israel had “hypnotized the world,” and when she claimed boycotting Israel was the same as boycotting the Nazis.

But Rep. Omar isn’t the only leftist Rep. McCarthy will be holding to the same standard Democrats hold Republicans to.

In a recent interview with Fox News, McCarthy vowed that if he’s Speaker, he’ll also remove Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) from the House Intelligence Committee.

As Minority Leader, Rep. McCarthy and other Republicans have called for both Schiff and Swalwell to be removed from the Committee for months over their past statements and actions regarding Israel, China, and Russia.

Rep. Swalwell’s connections to Chinese spy Christine Fang, who fundraised for his 2014 campaign, placed interns in his office, and had some sort of intimate relationship with the Congressman, have long raised serious questions over whether he should be involved in the intelligence committee.

Furthermore, as McCarthy pointed out when explaining his rationale for removing the Congressman from the committee, Rep. Swalwell could not obtain security clearance in the private sector, so why would Congress hand it to him?

“One thing I said from the very beginning, Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector,” McCarthy told Fox News. “Why would we ever give him a security clearance and the secrets to America? So, I will not allow him to be on Intel.”

For his part, Rep. Schiff was famously Democrats’ top cheerleader of the debunked “Russian collusion” hoax, using his position on the intelligence committee to push the false narrative even though he knew it was fabricated by the Hillary Clinton campaign from the beginning.

Ultimately, there’s no doubt that if Rep. McCarthy wasn’t in a position where he’s trying to convince 31 conservative members of Congress to vote for him for Speaker, he doesn’t make such a promise as removing three Democrats from committee assignments.

Establishment Republicans like McCarthy simply don’t fight back against Democrats without a little push.

But now that he’s made the promise, there’s no take backs without repercussions.
