But some of her skeletons just don’t want to stay in the closet.
And now Kamala Harris is spitting mad after her former lover let the cat out of the bag on one huge secret.
Harris and Brown Have a Sorted Past
When Vice President Kamala Harris was 29-years-old and an unknown prosecutor, she caught the eye of one of California’s most powerful politicians, former San Francisco Democrat Mayor Willie Brown, who also served as the Speaker of the California state Assembly.
Brown was 60-years-old at the time and still married, but once their “relationship” started, he began handing Harris high-paying jobs on powerful regulatory boards.
He opened the doors of power for her, and ultimately played as big a role as anyone in getting her elected as a local District Attorney, the state’s Attorney General, and then as a U.S. Senator.
According to The Daily Mail, “Brown appointed Harris to two different state boards, which paid her more than $400,000 over five years and gave her the keys to a BMW. He opened the doors to the wealthy and the powerful people of San Francisco.”
After Harris’ 2020 Presidential campaign flopped, she ignored Brown’s advice to not accept President Joe Biden’s offer to be his Vice Presidential running mate because he thought it was a dead end.
But with Democrats forcing Biden to end his re-election bid amidst his significant physical and cognitive decline, the door has opened for a Harris Presidential run, and that’s certainly good with Brown, even though it means another of his protégées, California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom, will have to continue to wait his turn for a crack at the White House.
Harris Tosses Brown Out Like a Used Tissue
Harris has repeatedly denied that Brown was the key to her political rise, and even threw her biggest benefactor under the bus in 2009.
According to The Daily Mail, “Harris told SF Weekly that she refused ‘to design my campaign around criticizing Willie Brown for the sake of appearing to be independent when I have no doubt that I am independent of him — and that he would probably right now express some fright about the fact that he cannot control me.”
“’His career is over. I will be alive and kicking for the next 40 years. I do not owe him a thing,” she said.
Brown claims that he has remained friends with Harris, but according to a report from Politico, he has openly doubted whether she can actually win the Presidency.
“Before the debate, when Biden’s renomination seemed inevitable, and his vice president was more unpopular than he was, Brown worried out loud that Harris had “the Hillary syndrome” — that “people don’t like her” — and fretted it was not fixable,” Politico noted.
But after Harris locked up the Democrat nomination, he changed his tune.
In an interview with the San Francisco Standard, Brown said: “You can very easily underestimate Kamala Harris, but if you do you will be looking up from the dungeon for the queen will be on the throne.”
He also told The Daily Mail that he’s concerned that if she is elected, he’ll end up being deported.
Brown has also called for Biden to step down so Harris can be seen as President before the election.
Harris has not spoken publicly about her relationship with Brown since 2003.
