Kamala Harris thought that everything was breaking in her favor.
She’s discovering the state of the race wasn’t what she expected.
And now Kamala Harris is dealing with one scary problem in a must-win state that could sink her.
Kamala Harris has a big problem in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania has emerged as the most important battleground state in the country with its 19 crucial Electoral Votes.
Former President Donald Trump won the state with a little more than 44,000 votes in the 2016 election to become the first Republican to carry it since 1988.
It flipped to President Joe Biden in 2020 by roughly 81,000 votes.
This year, both Vice President Kamala Harris and Trump are spending big to win Pennsylvania.
Harris, a San Francisco Democrat, doesn’t have the personal touch with working class voters in the state that Biden had.
Those voters could decide who wins the Rust Belt state.
Harris is an out-of-touch California leftist
Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania before his family moved to Delaware.
The Democrat President spent decades building his phony “Scranton Joe” persona – even though he moved to Delaware at the age of nine – and built strong relationships with Big Labor during his career.
Biden spoke to Carpenters and Joiners Local 445 union in Scranton on Election Day 2020.
Union boss Drew Simpson told NOTUS that Biden had a connection with his members.
He said that many members of his union had voted for Trump in 2016, but flipped in 2020.
Simpson said that Biden was able to build a personal connection with union members when he visited Scranton earlier this year.
“When President Biden came by a few months ago and met with our members, it wasn’t as if he just walked by and took a picture and left,” Simpson said. “I mean, he actually spoke to every one of them, shook everyone’s hands, and was just down-to-earth.”
“If you didn’t know he was President, then he’s just a normal guy from Scranton,” Simpson added.
Biden got 10,000 more votes in Lackawanna County – where Scranton is located – than two-time failed Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
His improvement over her in northeastern Pennsylvania helped him win the state.
Local Democrat strategist Ed Mitchell said that Lackawanna County has a reputation for rejecting radical left-wing candidates.
“The people who’ve been most successful here, generally, are people who go right up the middle. There’s a reason we don’t have any AOCs in public office here,” Mitchell said.
Biden worked hard to develop a persona that played to the blue-collar town of Scranton.
Voters there saw him as one of them.
“They love Biden here,” Mitchell said.
Lackawanna County Commissioner Bill Gaughan said that Biden represented the old “Irish-Catholic-Democrats” who used to dominate the area.
Now, Democrats are counting on a San Francisco leftist to appeal to the working class voters throughout the state.
Harris faces the same struggle that Clinton did trying to connect to voters in the Rust Belt.
And those are the voters who are going to be crucial for her path to victory in winning Pennsylvania.
