Joe Rogan couldn’t believe what he was seeing when this CNN host suffered a major embarrassment on national TV

And now Joe Rogan couldn’t believe what he was seeing when this CNN host suffered a major embarrassment on national TV.

American trust for institutions has been gone for a long time

Over the past few years, it feels like trust for institutions has completely disappeared in the United States. 

While some may say that COVID-19 opened the door for Americans to distrust government and media, the reality is that anyone who’s been paying attention has seen this all coming for over a decade.

In December 2018, Pew Research published the results of a survey evaluating “Trust and Distrust in America.” 

And the results were eye-opening to say the least. 

Nearly 65% of U.S. Adults say it is “somewhat hard [or] very hard” to tell whether elected officials are telling us the truth.

Americans in 2018 believed that social media and cable television news already had major credibility issues. 

Nearly half of respondents said that it was difficult to discern truth on social media and 41% said the same of watching cable news.

Now a viral clip is highlighting just how far Americans have come.

“Was that supposed to be a laugh line?”

In an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins discussed the presidential election and how Donald Trump is “on his heels.” 

Collins said that Trump “is not really sure how to go after Vice President Harris” after four easy years of going after Biden. 

“He knew his attack lines on President Biden, he really has struggled with how to go after someone who is 20 years younger, who is a different gender, a different race,” she said.

Collins said that Trump is stuck in a “moment where he has not been able to coalesce around a single attack line.” 

Colbert calmly waited for her to finish her rant before breaking the silence. 

And his response was golden. 

“I know you guys are objective over there and you just report the news as it is,” Colbert said with sincerity. 

But it quickly became a joke when the audience broke out in laughter.

“Was that supposed to be a laugh line?” Collins responded.

“It wasn’t supposed to be, but I guess it is,” he said with a smirk.

“You’ve ruined your business because now people think you’re full of s***”

It wouldn’t have been a viral moment without the assessment of one of the biggest podcasters in the world. 

Joe Rogan addressed the video in a conversation with fellow comedian Adam Ray. 

“How crazy is that? The audience is like shut the f*** up. That is hilarious,” Rogan said.

The podcaster pointed out that the audience thought they were in on a joke when Colbert was saying what he truly believes about CNN’s trustworthiness. 

“That’s how crazy this world has gotten, where f**king CNN being unbiased is a joke to people in the audience. That’s so crazy,” he said.

 

Rogan took the opportunity to critique the CNN news model and the tragic circumstances they have brought themselves to. 

“You’ve ruined your business because now, people think you’re full of s***t — and you could’ve just been actual, just straightforward journalists. . . but you wouldn’t have got as much money,” he said. 

“They wouldn’t have gotten as much money. You gotta get those ads in,” he emphasized.
