Even as Joe Biden’s administration winds down, his epic failures continue to mount.
And nowhere is this more evident than in his fanatical drive for electric vehicles (EVs).
That’s why Joe Biden was shaking with rage after getting this bad news about his push to force all Americans into EVs.
Joe Biden’s maniacal plan to force all Americans into EVs has hit yet another bump in the road, and this time it’s a big one.
A $3.5 billion setback
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that General Motors’ plans to build a battery plant in Indiana have now been pushed back by at least a year.
The building originally set for 2026 with partner Samsung SDI will now begin production no sooner than 2027, with the plant’s location in New Carlise, IN costing at least $3.5 billion dollars.
This is devastating and embarrassing news for Joe Biden as he personally touted the building of this massive EV project.
But this is not the first time GM has revised their manufacturing projections.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported their July announcement that they were delaying both a new Buick EV and a new EV truck factory.
GM has also reversed its previous plans to have enough factories make one million EVs by next year.
Inside Indiana Business first announced GM and Samsung SDI’s ambitious plans in June 2023 after they became official.
With that announcement came news of a projected 1,700 new jobs in the area, and Indiana Republican Governor Eric Holcomb expressed his optimism in the plan.
“This historic investment is further proof that Indiana has turned it up and shifted into a higher gear when it comes to helping create the future of mobility and more customer options out on the open road,” he said at the time.
And when news of the EV battery plant became official, Biden bragged about the plant with his usual over-the-top EV rhetoric.
Americans just aren’t buying into Biden’s EV plans
“Our work to build a clean energy economy is unleashing record private sector manufacturing investment, driving companies to shore up our supply chains here at home, and lowering energy costs for working families,” he said.
But this latest delay is reminding manufacturers of the massive problem they face in putting billions into EVs.
Namely that American consumers simply don’t want them.
Despite Joe Biden and the Environmental Protection Agency’s stricter emissions standards from March, which would require 70 percent of new car purchases to be electric or hybrid by 2032, Americans clearly aren’t willing to give up their less expensive and more reliable gas-powered vehicles.
A survey by Consumer Reports from November 2023 found that EVs from the three previous model years had 79 percent more problems than gas-powered vehicles.
The latest news just confirms how American auto buyers really feel about EVs.
It’s no surprise to anyone other than Joe Biden that reliable vehicles are needed to get to work and take care of families.
Those reliable vehicles are gas-powered.
