The Biden border disaster continues to get worse.
And now some states are fighting back against Biden’s open border policies.
That’s why Joe Biden was hopping mad after a federal judge made one ruling on Biden’s border policies.
Just a ‘speedbump’ for illegal aliens
In the battle over America’s borders, the states are starting to gain an advantage.
The latest volley was fired a federal judge in Florida, who struck down the Biden regime’s policy of simply releasing illegal aliens apprehended by immigration authorities back into the U.S.
Judge T. Kent Wetherell found the practice unlawful, and accused the Biden regime of turning the U.S. southern border into a “meaningless line in the sand.”
Judge Wetherell’s ruling was in response to a lawsuit filed by the state of Florida.
The lawsuit alleged that the Biden regime’s mass release of tens of thousands of illegals via humanitarian parole into Alternatives to Detention, known as “Parole + ATD,” is unlawful.
And in his scathing opinion, Judge Wetherell argued that the Biden regime had “effectively turned the Southwest Border into a meaningless line in the sand and little more than a speedbump for aliens flooding into the country.”
But Wetherell didn’t stop there.
The judge also ruled Biden’s open borders policies, including his catch and release scheme, had contributed to the degradation of the border as a means to keep illegal aliens out of the nation.
Biden must follow the law
Florida Republican Attorney General Ashley Moody issued a sharply worded statement following the judge’s ruling.
“Today’s ruling affirms what we have known all along, President Biden is responsible for the border crisis and his unlawful immigration policies make this country less safe,” the statement read. “A federal judge is NOW ordering Biden to follow the law, and his administration should immediately begin securing the border to protect the American people.”
The Biden regime had been stepping up its use of parole to release thousands of illegal aliens into the country as quickly as possible in order to reduce overcrowding at detention centers along the border.
But the parole statute clearly states it is only to be used on a “case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”
In other words, not for the mass release of illegal aliens into mostly Republican-led states.
Florida’s lawsuit claimed the regime is violating statutory mandates that illegal aliens be detained.
The Biden regime had previously argued that they do not have a “non-detention policy,” and that it is merely using its prosecutorial discretion.
Clearly, Judge Wetherell disagreed with the Biden regime’s assessment.
Nothing inhumane or cruel about the law
In his opinion siding with Florida, Judge Wetherell explained that “there is nothing inherently inhumane or cruel about detaining aliens pending completion of their immigration proceedings.”
Governor Ron DeSantis’ deputy press secretary Jeremy Redfern pointed out that by filing the lawsuit, the Governor is “acting to protect Floridians from Biden’s border crisis.”
“Today, Judge Wetherell vindicated the Governor’s actions and ruled that the Biden administration is breaking federal immigration law by failing to fulfill the duties of his office and secure the nation’s border,” Redfern said in a statement.
He also noted the judge’s conclusion that the Biden regime had turned the border into nothing more than a “meaningless line in the sand.”
“Thankfully, Governor DeSantis steps up to lead when national leaders fail,” Redfern said.
Now, it remains to be seen whether other states will follow suit and hold Joe Biden accountable.
