Americans are concerned about Joe Biden’s age and his rapidly declining mental faculties.
This is leading to more and more Democrats distancing themselves from Biden ahead of the Midterm elections.
But jaws dropped over what a top Congressional Democrat just admitted about Joe Biden running for a second term.
Joe Biden’s Presidency is a total disaster.
With the Midterm elections just around the corner, Biden’s record-low approval ratings are driving Democrats down across the board.
This has many Democrats distancing themselves from Biden ahead of November, with candidates even refusing to be seen in public with the President when he visits their state.
Of course, despite his dismal approval ratings and old age, Biden says in public and in private that he is running for re-election in 2024.
But more and more Democrats are publicly expressing their concerns about Joe Biden running for a second term given his poor approval ratings, old age, and declining mental faculties.
And now a few Democrats are publicly refusing to endorse Biden in 2024, instead saying it’s time for him to step aside and allow someone else to carry the torch.
Democrat Representative opposes Biden’s re-election
On Thursday, during an interview with WCCO-AM’s Chad Hartman, Minnesota Democrat Congressman Dean Phillips went further than others have when discussing Biden’s political future.
“No!” Phillips replied when asked by Hartman if he would support Joe Biden in 2024.
“I think the country would be well-served by a new generation of compelling, well-prepared, dynamic Democrats who step up,” Phillips added.
This is the most candid answer given by a Democrat lawmaker about Joe Biden running for a second term.
Even though he respects Joe Biden, Phillips believes his “age” combined with his “mistakes” and his “mishaps” are why he should step aside in 2024.
“I have respect for Joe Biden,” Phillips said. “I think he has – despite some mistakes and some missteps, despite his age, I think he’s a man of decency, of good principle, of compassion, of empathy, and of strength,” he continued, before adding, “but to answer your question, directly, which I now if quite rare, uh no, I don’t.”
“I think it’s time for generational change,” Phillips continued.
Even though Phillips is the first Democrat lawmaker to openly declare Biden should step aside in 2024, he said virtually all of his colleagues agree with him.
“And I think most of my colleagues agree with that,” Phillips said.
Democrat Senator refuses to endorse Biden’s re-election
Some Senate Democrats are also publicly refusing to endorse Biden running for a second term in 2024.
On Sunday, during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, host Jake Tapper asked Senator Joe Manchin if he planned on supporting Biden in 2024.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “President Biden says he plans to run for reelection in 2024,” Tapper began.
“You have not yet committed to supporting him in 2024,” he continued, before asking, “do you think President Biden deserves a second term?”
“Jake, I’m not getting involved in any election right now,” Manchin shot back. “2022, 2024, I’m not speculating on it,” he added.
Manchin said he is more concerned with “today’s inflation rates killing people.”
“This is about today’s inflation rates killing people,” he continued. “We have got to get the inflation rate down.
With no end in sight to Joe Biden’s falling approval ratings, more Democrats will likely turn on the President as inflation continues to skyrocket and the economy enters a recession.
And even if Joe Biden wants to seek a second term in 2024, Democrats will likely push him out and pick someone they believe can defeat Donald Trump.
