Democrats and their media allies can’t stop gushing about Kamala Harris.
But reality was bound to start catching up to them sooner or later.
And now J.D. Vance laid the smackdown on Kamala Harris for failing to do this one simple thing.
Anyone seen Kamala?
Vice President Kamala Harris has now gone nearly four weeks without holding a formal press conference since becoming Democrats’ presumptive Presidential nominee.
As soon as President Joe Biden endorsed her after dropping out of the race, she clinched the nomination shortly thereafter.
While Harris has been reading the exact same scripted speech at various rallies, she still has not done any type of formal press conference or one-on-one interview with any media outlet.
She’s literally only answered about 60 seconds’ worth of questions from reporters in passing since becoming Democrats’ nominee.
She even refused an invitation to the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago, despite it being an overwhelmingly pro-Democrat crowd, and former President Donald Trump accepting the invite – reports have suggested that the NABJ will hold a special event just for Harris in the near future after she received backlash from her base for not attending the event.
Even after choosing Minnesota socialist Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, the pair have not been formally questioned in any press conferences or interviews.
Now, the Republican Vice Presidential nominee, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), is pointing this out to the media.
Vance implored reporters to “show a little bit of self-awareness,” pushing Harris to “do the job of a presidential candidate” by talking to them when he spoke during a recent press conference.
“Until she does, you guys have got to stop giving her a honeymoon and pretending that she is something she isn’t,” he stated.
People are noticing Harris is hiding
Even publications like The New York Times have published reports inquiring about Harris’s elusiveness, including excerpts from an interview with Harris from last year so they could compare where her answers would “land now.”
Critics of Harris are likening her choice not to hold a press conference to what was once called the Biden “basement” approach in 2020.
They’re also taking notice that Harris has not faced any serious or tough questions in front of the American public.
National Review’s Noah Rothman asked his social media followers, “When is Kamala Harris going to hold a press conference?”
However, DePauw University media studies professor Jeffrey McCall thinks that her failure to do a press conference might not matter as much as some people think.
He said that Harris and her campaign are “well aware that Biden dodged the media throughout his 2020 campaign and still got elected.”
But as Rothman wrote in a piece for National Review, “The most revealing exposure to which a candidate can submit is a prolonged press conference – and that’s precisely what Harris needs to do.”
