Out of all the terrible things that have happened to America as a result of COVID, the worst is undoubtedly the platform it gave Dr. Fauci.
From telling dangerous, verifiable lies in order to fear monger to calling for authoritarian policies, Fauci has inflicted more damage on America than any single human in recent history.
But he’s not getting away with it as Dr. Rand Paul proved when he gave Anthony Fauci the scare of a lifetime with one promise.
Fauci’s own words come back to haunt him
Since COVID began, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has been one of the few Republicans in Washington, D.C. willing to truly hold Dr. Anthony Fauci accountable for the destruction he’s caused.
As an acclaimed doctor of medicine in his own right, Senator Paul has a very particular set of skills that allowed him to hold Fauci’s feet to the fire not only on his desecration of Americans’ God-given rights and outright authoritarianism, but also on the science Fauci so loves to claim is on his side.
And that was once again the case when Dr. Paul took Fauci to task for his contradictory, unscientific claims, while also giving Fauci the scare of a lifetime with one promise.
During a Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions – because all of those certainly go together – hearing on monkeypox, Dr. Paul confronted Fauci with video of his past claims that someone who’s had a virus shouldn’t receive a vaccine because “the most potent vaccination is getting infected yourself.”
That statement, of course, contradicts everything Fauci has claimed throughout COVID, as he pushed the idea that only by receiving the COVID vaccines – which have proven to be ineffective in stopping infection and “the spread,” as Fauci claimed – could Americans truly safeguard against infection.
Of course, Fauci claimed a video of himself explicitly stating that infection is a more effective immunization than a vaccine was “out of context” because “Reuters fact checked that.”
Rand Paul confronts Fauci on his clip saying that getting infected protects you from a virus more than vaccines:
Fauci: “That film you showed was really taken out of context… Reuters fact checked that.”
Paul: “Actually, words don’t lie.”

But Dr. Paul was having none of that, and rightly pointed out that Fauci’s constant contradictions while ignoring science that is inconvenient to his narrative is what causes “vaccine hesitancy.”
“When people decry vaccine hesitancy, it’s coming from the gobbledygook that you give us,” Senator Paul explained. “You’re not paying attention to the science. The very basic science is that previous infection provides a level of immunity. If you ignore that in your studies, if you don’t present that in your committees, you’re not being truthful.”
A promise for Fauci
Ultimately though, the major headline from the clash between Dr. Paul and Fauci happened at the very end of the Senator’s allotted time.
It’s been clear for some time that Senator Paul, like the American people, isn’t going to simply forget about all of Fauci’s transgressions and the destruction he’s caused.
While the Republican establishment has already moved on, wanting to help Democrats sweep Fauci under a rug to protect the federal government’s power and control over the American people, Rand Paul isn’t going to let Fauci get away without any consequences for his actions.
And the Kentucky Senator made it clear that, one way or another, when Republicans take back the Senate, Fauci will finally be forced to admit whether or not he or anyone else on the “vaccine committees” are profiting from COVID vaccines, after he’s spent years hiding behind federal government rules that allow him to keep that information from the American public.
“We’ve been asking you, and you refuse to answer, whether anybody on the vaccine committees gets royalties from the pharmaceutical companies,” Paul recalled. “I asked you last time, and what was your response? ‘We don’t have to tell you.’”
“But I’ll tell you this, when we get in charge, we’re going to change the rules and you will have to divulge where you get your royalties from, from what companies, and if anybody on the committee has a conflict of interest,” the Senator declared. “We’re gonna learn about it. I promise you that.”
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what leadership looks like.
