For six-years Kevin Sorbo brought Greek mythological figure Hercules to life on the silver screen.
However, Hollywood opportunities began to dry up some for Sorbo after he came out as being both Christian and conservative.
But now, Hercules is joining Dennis Quaid in this upcoming can’t miss movie for Trump supporters.
“A cinematic experience that transcends the boundaries of a traditional biopic”
The first-ever feature film on the full life of President Ronald Reagan was shot all the way back in 2020.
After some studio switches, the highly-anticipated biopic of one of the most iconic men in modern American history, Reagan, is scheduled to hit theaters on August 30.
“From dusty small-town roots, to the glitter of Hollywood, and then on to commanding the world stage, ‘Reagan’ is a cinematic experience that transcends the boundaries of a traditional biopic, offering a profound exploration of the enduring impact of the power of one man who overcame the odds, sustained by the love of a woman who supported him in his journey,” the movie’s description reads. “Told through the voice of Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent whose life becomes inextricably linked with Ronald Reagan’s when Reagan first catches the Soviets’ attention as an actor in Hollywood, this film offers a perspective as unique as it is captivating.”
Many conservatives are rightly skeptical of a Hollywood-produced movie about the conservative icon.
However, the latest revelations about the film’s cast offers high hopes that Reagan will be more than just another Hollywood hit piece against conservatives.
Kevin Sorbo: “We can’t let the enemies of America pit us against each other or they win”
Hollywood in Toto is reporting that Kevin Sorbo will play an important part in the movie, portraying Reagan’s trusted pastor, Ben Cleaver.
Sorbo, as you may remember, previously spent six years playing Hercules in the TV series Hercules:The legendary Journeys.
But the fact that he was open about his Christian faith and conservative principles left him on the “wrong side” in the eyes of Hollywood’s woke executives.
Now, after starring in many faith-based films, Sorbo is taking on a new challenge with his role in Reagan, which he says is a “great honor” due to his admiration for President Reagan.
“It most certainly is something very special,” Sorbo said in an interview with Hollywood in Toto. “I am old enough to remember and miss Ronald Reagan — we miss his kind of leadership, and since I hold President Reagan in high esteem, it was a great honor to be cast in the film.”
Sorbo added some insight as to why the role of Pastor Cleaver particularly appealed to him.
“It’s a rare opportunity for any actor to be part of telling this story and to play a character that was so crucial in the formation of his character is an honor,” Sorbo said. “In many ways, his pastor was a father to him, and Reagan almost married his daughter. It’s a small role, but it’s one of the most meaningful experiences of my career.”
The man most famous for his portrayal of Hercules also heaped praise on the actor who will portray the 40th President of the United States in the film, Dennis Quaid.
“I haven’t seen the final cut yet, but I have the utmost respect for Dennis and his performance in this role is stellar,” Sorbo added. “He captures the man behind the public persona of the president. His spot-on delivery of Reagan’s cadence and intonation will have audiences swept along with his portrayal. It’s a privilege to work with professionals like Dennis.”
Sorbo: “History is vital for understanding and navigating our current moment”
Speaking of Quaid, like Sorbo, he felt privileged to be asked to be a part of Reagan.
“Portraying Ronald Reagan was an enormous challenge,” Quaid said in a statement. “This is an important movie, one of my most interesting roles and I am really excited to work with the ShowBiz team to get this film opened in theaters this Summer.”
Quaid added that he believes Reagan is an American icon, and considers him his “favorite President.”
An all-star cast is joining Quaid and Sorbo to make the movie possible.
Penelope Ann Miller is portraying Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari is playing Reagan’s first wife Jane Wyman, Lesley-Anne Down is filling the shoes of Margaret Thatcher, and Kevin Dillon is Jack Warner.
Meanwhile conservative actor Jon Voight will play opposite Quaid as an aging Viktor Petrovich.
And Sorbo is hoping millennials and Gen-Z will come to theaters and enjoy the performance.
“It’s such a critical part of American history since World War II, I wish it was more accurately taught in our public schools,” Sorbo told Hollywood in Toto. “History is vital for understanding and navigating our current moment, and my personal hope is this film will have a positive influence on the culture and that people will wake up, realize there is accurate information available to them, and go find it. This picture could start them on that journey.”
