The radical Left is never going to allow pesky little facts to get in the way of a good story.
Especially when they’re pushing to ban every firearm in America.
That’s why Democrats were furious when this study on guns just destroyed one of their favorite claims.
Gun control lowers the number of gun murders . . . Right?
If Democrats and their allies in the so-called “mainstream media” are to be believed, all America has to do is enact gun control and all gun murders would magically vanish.
The only problem with that idea is the fact that it’s simply not reality.
Disarming law-abiding Americans and stripping them of their ability to defend themselves, their families, and their property, does nothing to stop criminals from committing crimes – and murders – with guns.
And that’s not just a right-wing talking point, as Democrats like to claim.
“Gun ownership is higher in states with fewer restrictions, and homicide rates in these states are lower. People can protect themselves,” George Mason University Professor Emerita Joyce Lee Malcolm told Fox News.
Malcolm, who has done extensive research on gun control and its correlation to gun crimes, also pointed out that a study on burglars conducted in 1986, found that 34% of the burglars interviewed said they had “been scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim.”
But don’t just take Professor Malcolm at face value.
After all, FBI statistics tell the full story.
The study the Left doesn’t want you to see
Fox News recently released a report that utilized FBI statistics and data assembled by the Rand Corporation to prove that states with a higher percentage of gun ownership – and thus fewer restrictions on the Second Amendment – do not have higher gun murder rates.
For example, based on FBI and Rand Corporation data, Fox found that states with the highest gun ownership rate in America, like Montana and Wyoming – states where more than 66% of all homes own at least one gun – saw lower or similar gun murder rates to state’s with the strictest gun control laws.
“In 2019, Montana recorded 1.5 gun murders per 100,000 population and 2.5 murders per 100,000 population,” Fox News reported. “In Massachusetts – which tied with New Jersey for lowest gun ownership in the country at 14.7% of households with at least one gun – the state saw similar murder rates to Montana, at 1.25 gun murders per 100,000 people and 2.12 murders per the same population.”
Conversely, in many states where strict gun control laws have limited gun ownership rates, like California and Maryland, the gun murder rate is exponentially higher than states with far less gun control and more gun ownership.
“In California, where just over 28% of households had at least one gun in 2016, there was a rate of more than four people murdered per 100,000 population and nearly three gun murders per 100,000 population in 2019,” the report continued. “While in Maryland, where about 30% of households owned at least one firearm, according to 2016 data, murders per 100,000 population jumped to roughly nine, while more than seven people per 100,000 were victims of gun murders.”
It’s clear to anyone with a brain that disarming law-abiding Americans will only result in making people defenseless against criminals who don’t follow the law.
And the stats, as inconvenient as they may be for the radical Left, back up that fact.
The Left’s claims about guns are all just fantasy.
