So far the new House GOP majority seems to be keeping its promises.
They’ve forced votes on key issues and have begun a number of crucial investigations.
Now Democrats are up in arms after Jim Jordan subpoenaed Joe Biden’s “Mary Poppins of Disinformation.”
“To date, however, you have declined to comply voluntarily”
President Biden’s Orwellian “Disinformation Governance Board” at the Department of Homeland Security was a frightening idea.
Thankfully it ended before it really got going, and before Americans were hauled in front of it.
The House Judiciary Committee, now chaired by Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), has subpoenaed the head of the Department of Homeland Security’s short-lived Disinformation Governance Board, Nina Jankowicz.
Jankowicz, who chaired the ill-fated board from its April 2022 creation to its May 2022 termination, promoted a number of conspiracy theories popular among Democrats.
She even blamed DHS’ decision to shut down the Disinformation Governance board on right-wing disinformation, claiming that it was part of some mysterious broader campaign.
The Committee’s subpoena requests general information about the board’s formation and goals.
“We have repeatedly sought information from you concerning your official actions and duties as a DHS employee and former Executive Director of the Board, including how the Board intended to define disinformation, how it planned to collect information and from what sources, how it anticipated countering disinformation, and how it proposed to protect First Amendment rights,” Jordan wrote in a letter to Jankowicz.
“To date, however, you have declined to comply voluntarily with our request for a transcribed interview,” the letter continued.
Their own documents did them in
Although Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas claimed at the time the board would “not infringe on free speech… civil rights [or] civil liberties” because it would have an international focus, documents released by Republican Senators Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) clearly showed the board would focus on issues by topic, not by national origin.
In one document released by the Senators, Biden regime officials expressed particular concern about “conspiracy theories about the validity and security of elections,” “disinformation related to the origins and effects of COVID-19 vaccines or the efficacy of masks,” and “falsehoods surrounding U.S. government immigration policy” – hardly an international focus.
Conservatives also expressed great concern with DHS’ decision to name Jankowicz to head the disinformation board, after she repeatedly accused GOP officials and voters of spreading so-called “disinformation.”
Defending Hunter Biden
She claimed opponents of Critical Race Theory are engaging in “disinformation for profit,” and made the now laughable and totally discredited claim that Hunter Biden’s ”laptop from hell” was a Republican “campaign product.”
“There’s never been any indication that Hunter Biden was involved in anything untoward,” she said of Hunter’s position on the Burisma Energy board. “It certainly has nothing to do with Joe Biden’s policies toward Ukraine.”
Of course, Jankowicz has never corrected any of her false claims – also known as disinformation – but she is now a foreign agent.
In November 2022, Jankowicz registered as a foreign agent lobbying for a British firm.
The Centre for Information Resilience describes itself as a “non-profit social enterprise dedicated to countering disinformation, exposing human rights abuses, and combating online behavior harmful to women and minorities.”
In other words, a group dedicated to spreading the lies and disinformation of the radical Left.
Seems like a good fit.
