They were warned that they were going to hate the new rules but Democrats just couldn’t resist.
They have no one to blame but themselves, particularly when it comes to partisan hacks like Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA).
Now Eric Swalwell is having a tough time swallowing the bad news he just received.
Congressman Eric Swalwell appeared recently on the low-rated cable show TheReidOut with the perpetually dour host and all-around nasty person, Joy Reid.
Reid asked the California Democrat, “You have something about the ‘weaponization of the federal government,’ that’s Jim Jordan, who might actually be a subject of an investigation by the DOJ. It’s not the crime. It’s the cover-up. Is the goal here to prevent accountability for some of the crimes that may have been committed in the insurrection? Is that the bottom line?”
Swalwell bellyached, “That’s what the House just voted on today, to create what they call the Weaponization of Government Committee. It’s the committee to obstruct justice. It’s made up of people who want to be on the committee who had their phones seized by the FBI, who have been called to testify to the grand jury, who have been subpoenaed and refused to honor their subpoena by the January 6th Committee. This committee if it’s allowed to form and actually go after ongoing investigations, would be like letting Al Capone investigate Elliot Ness. That’s what they want to do. By the way, what happened on January 6, 2023, in contrast to 2021, the insurrectionists lost in 2021 because of the valor of the police. In 2023, they didn’t take over the Capitol, but they took over the Republican Party.”
Swalwell is, as usual, leaving out facts, like how former Attorney General Eric Holder defied a congressional subpoena to furnish documents about “Fast and Furious,” a program to attempt to trace Holder’s alleged involvement in gun trafficking along the Southern border during the Obama administration.
The fact is, to Democrats like Swalwell there is a different standard of justice based solely on whether one is a Republican or Democrat.
He forgets that in a largely party-line vote, Pelosi-led Democrats in the last Congress voted to strip Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments citing “incendiary remarks.”
It was an extraordinary and unprecedented move.
And one that completely ignored the incendiary remarks and calls to violence by Democrat members of congress and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Now, Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is making good on his promise to yank Swalwell’s committee assignments, causing the radical leftist Congressman to run to friendly outlets like Joy Reid’s and whine about his treatment.
Again, Swalwell is leaving out the fact that McCarthy is on pretty solid ground here and pointed out, “Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector. Why would we ever give him a security clearance and the secrets to America? So, I will not allow him to be on Intel.”
Swalwell had a long relationship with a Communist Chinese spy named “Fang Fang,” whom he allowed to place “at least one intern” in his Congressional office.
McCarthy also booted Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) off the committee because he “lied to the American public time and again,” and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for her anti-Semitic comments.
In the end, while all three of these odious Democrats deserved to be plucked from positions of power on their respective committees, it was the Democrats’ overreach two years ago that led to McCarthy’s actions.
Democrats set the bar and Republicans are finally using it against them.
Now that Republicans have gained control of the House, they are making the Democrats play by their own rules, and that’s the real reason that Swalwell is braying like an ass.
