Biden’s Secretary of Energy introduces new rules for manufacturers of dishwashers
The Biden regime launched a campaign against consumer choice earlier this year with their proposal to outlaw gas stoves.
Now, the Department of Energy is back in Americans’ kitchens looking to regulate how much energy and water their dishwashers can use.
Under the proposed rules, manufacturers would have to change the way they build standard-size and compact dishwashers.
According to the ruling class elites in the Biden regime, the new rule is necessary to address America’s carbon footprint, and ultimately stop the climate crisis in its tracks.
Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said the regime is “using all of the tools at our disposal to save Americans money while promoting innovations that will reduce carbon pollution and combat the climate crisis.”
The Biden regime hopes the result will be a reduction of 12.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide.
But if the rule is adopted, some major changes would need to be made to comply by 2027.
The proposed rule would reduce emissions by 27% and cut water usage by 34%
The proposed rules would reduce carbon output by limiting the consumption of water and electricity in dishwashers sold to US consumers.
They say the changes would help offset the emissions of roughly 1.6 million homes, and reduce water usage by about 240 billion gallons over a 30-year period.
The Biden regime will create new standards of efficiency for both standard-size and compact dishwashers, reducing the amount of energy utilized by conventional dishwashers by 27%, and water usage by 3%, for both domestic and imported products.
The maximum energy consumption of standard-sized dishwashers would be set at 223 kWh/year, and the maximum water consumption would be set at 3.3 gallons.
Compact dishwashers would be capped at 174 kWh/year, and their water consumption would be capped at 3.1 gallons.

The new rules brought forth by Biden’s Department of Energy (DOE) are the biggest change to dishwasher efficiency standards in over 10 years.
The same type of regulations have already been passed for other large appliances in the United States.
Ruling class elites have also put caps on the energy consumption of any electric motors in consumer electronics, as well as beverage vending machines, as they claim the changes would have an enormous impact on carbon reduction.
In February, the Biden regime declared war on gas stoves after a commissioner with the Consumer Product Safety Commission said that a total ban on the products was “on the table.”
The Biden Department of Energy settled on a rule that would affect nearly 50% of gas stoves on the market.
“President Biden and the radical left want to use federal government’s power to dictate what kind of car you drive, how you can heat your home and now how you’re allowed to cook food for your family,” House Energy Committee Chairwoman Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (D-MS) said.
