Alec Baldwin is in the fight of his life.

His career is already in tatters, and he could lose his freedom.

But now Alec Baldwin is thanking his lucky stars after he was given one gift that could keep him out of jail.

Alec Baldwin is facing 18 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter after the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of the western, Rust.

According to authorities, Baldwin pulled the trigger on the gun, firing the bullet that ultimately took Hutchins’ life during rehearsals, as he thought the gun was unloaded.

Baldwin served as both the star and producer of the film, so he was doubly responsible for making sure he was not pulling the trigger of a loaded gun.

But the deranged left-wing radical actor’s defense has apparently been to claim that he never pulled the trigger of the gun that ultimately killed the cinematographer.

According to Baldwin and his attorneys, the firearm simply malfunctioned and spontaneously fired all on its own.

That’s obviously going to be an incredibly tough sell, but Baldwin’s uphill battle may have just gotten a bit easier as special prosecutor Andrea Reeb recused herself from the case.

The actor’s attorneys had previously argued that Reeb should step down because she was recently elected to the New Mexico state legislature as a Republican.

His lawyers claimed that she could not hold both positions at once.

Reeb initially rejected the request, but recently chose to reverse course.

“After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down as special prosecutor in the Rust case,” Reeb said. “My priority in this case — and in every case I’ve prosecuted in my 25-year career — has been justice for the victim.”

“However, it has become clear that the best way I can ensure justice is served in this case is to step down so that the prosecution can focus on the evidence and the facts, which clearly show a complete disregard for basic safety protocols led to the death of Halyna Hutchins,” she added. “I will not allow questions about my serving as a legislator and prosecutor to cloud the real issue at hand.”

Prior to Reeb stepping down, the charges against Baldwin were downgraded, meaning he would no longer be facing a maximum sentence of five years.

“In order to avoid further litigious distractions by Mr. Baldwin and his attorneys, the District Attorney and the special prosecutor have removed the firearm enhancement to the involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of Halyna Hutchins on the Rust film set,” District Attorney Heather Brewer explained.

Unless Alec Baldwin’s attorneys have some crafty legal maneuvering hidden up their sleeves, the radical left-wing actor could be in for a rough road ahead.
