A top CNN host lost their job in one stunning shake up

The changes at CNN continue at a rapid pace.

But no one saw the latest change coming.

And a top CNN host lost their job in one stunning shake up.

CNN’s new executives are putting hosts on notice

Warner Brothers Discovery CEO David Zaslav tasked new CNN President Chris Licht with two tasks that were intertwined.

Zaslav wanted Licht to pull back on the left-wing bias at CNN and restore the network’s reputation as a home for prestige journalism.

Licht also canceled left-wing cheerleader Brian Stelter’s Reliable Sources shows and jettisoned Democrat activist and pretend journalist John Harwood.

Now Licht took aim at the low-rated morning show New Day when left-wing fanatics John Berman and Briana Keilar failed to draw an audience with their anti-Trump performance art.

Don Lemon moves from primetime to day time

Licht announced the new hosts of the morning show would be Don Lemon, Poppy Harlow, and Kaitlan Collins.

“There is no stronger combination of talent than Don, Poppy, and Kaitlan to deliver on our promise of a game-changing morning news program,” Licht’s memo announcing the morning show shake up read.

“They are each uniquely intelligent, reliable and compelling; together they have a rare and palpable chemistry. Combined with CNN’s resources and global news gathering capabilities, we will offer a smart, bold, and refreshing way to start the day,” Licht added.

This is a massive demotion for Lemon, who previously hosted the 10PM to midnight block in primetime on CNN.

Lemon fired up the old CNN spin machine to address the change on his show

“I am exhausted. I just got back today. What a time to be on the plane when this happened, then I got off the plane and my phone literally was blowing up, it has been heated up all day. Let me just say that it’s bittersweet for me because I work with the best team in this building, one of the best teams in this business, and we built this show out of nothing. This show was not supposed to exist,” Lemon began.

Lemon then tried to put a brave face on being taken off primetime TV by claiming it was now a promotion to have to wake up at three in the morning to prepare for a show that starts at 6AM.

“This is not someone saying you must move to the right, Don Lemon, and give up so much of your perspective,” Lemon continued. “That is not real. This is fodder for Twitter. This is an opportunity. This is a promotion. This is an opportunity for me to create something around me and I get to work with two great ladies who you know.”

Warner Brothers Discovery probably does not want to eat Lemon’s massive contract by firing him.

But executives also know Lemon is one the faces of CNN’s left-wing bias in primetime.

So they killed two birds with one stone by getting Lemon out of primetime and shaking up a low-rated morning show.
